This seemed like the ideal spot to set up for an afternoon of plein air painting. No sooner had I set up, when it seemed it was now time for the "schoolbus parade" to begin on the dusty gravel entrance road. In my mind, it seemed that the transportation of the children to and from the conservation area went on forever, as did the dust.
Usually, I like to paint in the early fall, just before the leaves are in full bloom or just as they are finishing up. The colour is still there, but not exploding in your face, begging for your attention. "Paint me!...Paint me!.... This can be a tough time of the year to paint.
In spite of the dust, I managed to do this painting. In honour of the parading buses and the excited school children, I have named it, "Our Class Nature Trip".
The painting is 16 x 20 inches, oil on stretched canvas.
