Cold Creek Falls 11" x 14" O/P
This painting is a "Rainy Day Painting" that was painted in the studio using photo reference.
For this particular painting , I changed the rules a bit when it came to using the photo reference. Once I had the composition established on my panel using an edited version of the reference, I laid the photo face down and and promised myself that I would paint as long as I could without it.
Basically, it was a "memory work piece".
I did have to revert to the photo a few times near the finish. Some of the details were missing that I felt would help the painting if I included them.
I think that it was a helpful exercise and it certainly did put a rainy day to good use..
