In the Thousand Islands...

The Dock Builders... 9" x 12"    O/P

The reference for this painting was gathered at the same time as the previous painting,"Blue Quill".
The palette for this painting is as follows,.. ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, cad red med.,alizarin (trans red oxide) cad yellow med., lemon yellow and titanium white.
I find that I am using trans red oxide these days for laying in the composition or removing colour as I proceed sketching the main objects of interest. I apply the next layers of colour over this still wet composition. I work all over the panel as apposed to painting up one area at a time until the painting is finished.
This may be a busy looking painting, but at the same time it was a fun painting to play on.

'til next..

You worked from the whole to the parts and "busy' wasn't my first impression. Nice painting of a boat, that's what I saw.

I appreciate your comment. The bottom line I suppose is, "the fun". Otherwise, why do it ? :) Right ?

Take care..
