On Amherst Island

Black's Beach    8" x 10"    O/P

It had been years since I had last been to Amherst Island. It is a quaint island with a mixture of new and old homes , farms and cottages. When travelling the side roads. one is more apt to be confronted by a  friendly waving local driving a tractor, dragging some sort of harvesting implement. Still, many scenes to fire the painting  imagination are just around each turn it seems.
The scene that inspired todays painting was found unexpectedly just around one of those turns. A hidden spot that one usually only just hears about. Black's Beach !

My palette for this piece was, Prussian blue, ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, alizarin, trans red, cad. red med., cad yellow med., Indian yellow, yellow ocher and titanium white
.
I will also admit to having viridian, chromium oxide green and a yellow green on my palette !

The photo above is the scene that I attempted to interpret .

It was very enjoyable painting on the island and I feel that it certainly deserves a return painting visit.

'til next..
