Spring Runoff

A Woodland Spring Brook    16" x 20"    O/C

During the summer months, this little brook becomes nothing more than a sleepy trickle. But, as spring arrives we see the sleepy frozen trickle of the brook awaken to the receding snows, to become a bubbling spring runoff.

This painting was painted on a  pre stained (red - grey ) stretched canvas.
My palette was a limited palette. For convenience, I also added chromium oxide green (moss) and cobalt blue to my palette. The painting was painted using 'round' brushes of different sizes dictated by different areas of the painting.

I loved this scene with its different values in the rocks and water. ...Exciting !

'till next..
