Hillside Pasture

Hillside Pasture   8" x 10"    O/P

The period between now (late autumn) and when the first snow arrives seems to be the slowest or in my mind the 'down time of painting'. I know there is colour out there but it seems a struggle to find and paint it. In my mind, it is the most drab time of the year for plein air painting . Sometimes the incentive is lacking but, we paint on !

The limited palette for this painting was, ultramarine blue, Prussian blue, yellow ochre. cad yellow med., trans red oxide, cad red med., and titanium white.
The panel was previously undercoated with a number five value grey.

Hello Frank,
I like this one with the uphill perspective. The scenery looks very familiar to me, almost can feel the moist and chilly air.
I was wondering all through December why there is no snow yet to see in your paintings. I am looking forward to see those snow pieces.

Your work has become a companion through the seasons of years. It is so true, sometimes landscape speaks to you in volumes and sometimes it seems dead silence and then the best is just to paint on and to be open for a suprise...

I hope you and the whole family are fine and well. I wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year.

..looking forward to the next ones.
Martin

Martin.. Your post was a very pleasant Christmas surprise !

Until Christmas Eve, there was not a flake of snow on the ground...It is still snowing !
I have been nursing a bout of Pneumonia for the last five weeks but hope to resume painting within the next week. Your post has been a "welcome boost". :)
Thank you for the Christmas and New years wishes.
It is my pleasure to return the wishes to you and your family. As well, I wish you much success with your work in the coming year.

Thank you for the compliment and and your thoughts.... Always appreciated !

'til next
