Moved On !

Deserted Renovation  ...11' X 14"    o/p

I think that the loose appearance of this piece is a carry over from my last painting, Church in Moscow, Ontario.
The panel was left white as a result of the two gesso layer that were applied previous to painting.
I tryed a different limited palette for this painting that I thought would be appropriate for this time of year.
The colours were, Venetian Red, yellow ochre, raw sienna, ultramarine blue and titanium white . As the painting progressed, I added chromium oxide to my palette which I used with ultramarine to darken down the trees in the background.
As I neared the finish of the painting, the lightest colours were layered on quite thickly.

I enjoyed the "freedom" of the looser brushwork in this piece and the thicker paint was also a plus.

'til next..

I like the bold brushwork as well. The palette worked for the season, the venetian red on the house is perfect.
