From Wolfe Island

Start of the Thousand Islands   .. 7" x 6"   ..oil / panel

For the last couple of days, I have been putting the finishing touches to my, "Churchill" (cigar) paint box.
I was anxious to give it a try under 'plein air conditions' and today was that day.

The small pochade box that I refer to is the one that I put together and posted on Wednesday, June 01 / 2011, and today I am happy to report that it lived up to my expectations of lightness, easy portability, and ease of use. (setting up, cleaning, taking down,  etc. )

The above photo illustrates the view of the 'paint box' while in use. My rather limited palette can be seen. In this particular case the palette was alizarin, cad. red light, "flesh", cad yellow med., yellow ocher, ultramarine blue, cerulean blue and titanium white.
I found the mixing area (palette) to be big enough for the size of panel that I was using for this painting. Ideally, the box is set up for a 5" x 7" panel.

This photograph shows the setup on the tripod and the view that I ' loosely '  painted .
I feel that this box will be a nice addition to my " arsenal " of painting supplies.

'til next...
