Second try..

Experimental  8" x 10"   o/p

For some time, I have been thinking about changing my limited palette. I wanted to keep the idea of the limited palette and just change my basic red, blue and yellow plus white. It seemed that I had been using alizarin, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow med. plus white for so long that they began to look as though they had lost their "intensity" (to me) The mixtures in some cases looked  to have lost the 'shock' that once impressed me.

After some thought, I decided to substitute the alizarin with 'rose', ultramarine with Prussian blue and cadmium yellow will remain as my yellow. A few of my former favourites remained.
Wow ! This change will take some getting used to !
My suggestion for anyone who may be planning a similar move- practice mixing the colours before hand, first !
This change has certainly, to my eyes,  found the lost "shock".
(photo reference for the above two paintings were borrowed from the WetCanvas Library.)

Practice, Practice, Practice...

..til next..

Hi Frank, this palette looks good to me. I like the warmth that the rose colour brings to the first one.

Howdy Keith !Nice to hear from you.. :)
I appreciate your opinion and I agree. BUT, That blue is a "killer". A real 'Dominator'..I will try this palette for awhile though..

A Very Merry Christmas to you and yours...and best of painting in the new year.

Take care.

Yup, If my memory serves me half right, I remember. Haven't used it since.
