7" x 9"   ..O/P

I have passed this home and out building a number of times.  Each time, I promised myself that I would return and  paint them. It wasn't just the colour of the buildings in the afternoon sun, but the location. As one leaves the small village and drives up hill, the approach  to the house is dead ahead. As suddenly as the house appears in front of you, the road curves to the right. One cannot help but notice the house and barn and many times they have left the thought of returning to paint them. It was that time.

I used my limited palette for both paintings and because of the season I added a few additional colours to "punch" up the colour surprises. Veridian, lime green, and burnt sienna in a lot of the mixtures can be seen in the paintings.
The panels were Masonite, with a double coat of gesso. No stain was applied before the start of the painting.

The last painting , the red barn is painted on a 8" x 10" panel.

They were both small pieces but fun to paint.

'til next..
