Springing To Life     ..11" x 14"   ..Oil / Canvas

Finally, the buds are more than open and the soft greens of early spring are revealing themselves, helping to hide the last vestiges of winter. Things seem to be so fresh now !
I  had to take some license with this painting by exaggerating the masses of the buds to more mature leaves, thus filling out some of the main masses and to use more variety in the use of the 'older' greens. I think that this helps the composition of the panting and keeps the eye of the viewer on the main subject .

The palette for this panting was my usual limited palette. The method was the same as for the last couple of paintings.

'til next..

Hi Frank,

I'm sure you were right to alter some of the greens. The darker colours give a good sense of depth and, as you say, they lead in to the group of trees with the blossom.
