Long Reach - Late Winter ..7 x 9" ..o/p

This was a fun piece to paint. It is not very often it seems to me, that a painting practically paints itself. This was one of those times !

This piece was painted on a orange-pink Masonite panel. The colours used were my usual limited palette .I started the painting by laying in the middle ground distant hills and then worked my way down the panel. I then layed the cedar trees into the the middle distance painted area using my palette knife ( 1" putty knife ). I also painted in the snow below the row of cedars with the knife. I then used the brush to lay in the trees shadows, highlites and other nuances. Lastly, I painted in the sky with fairly thin paint.
I used odourless thinners for my medium in the last stages of this painting.

'til next...

Hey, I really liked your "Farmhouse " piece. Looks like some of the underpainting showing through and the "rough texture" as well. Gotta like that..

Happy Painting.
