A Time For Christmas ..9" x 12" ..Oil/Panel

It is that time of the year again and the same question hangs over my head. "Do I make my own Christmas cards again this year ?"

The pressure is on !

...This Christmas card is painted on , you guessed it, a reddish orange Masonite panel.
The palette for this painting is a 'split palette' consisting of warm and cool reds, blues and yellows. and perhaps a favourite colour or two, whether I use them or not. My reds in this case are, Alizarin and Cad. red light. The blues are Ultramarine blue and Cerulean blue, and lastly my yellows, Cad. yellow med. and Lemon yellow.
My medium, when I used it, was liquin used sparingly.
The brushes used were mostly numbers two and four, except for the 'finer details'.

This painting turned out to be a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the results of adding in the Christmas Tree. An after thought !
All that is left to do now is to download the original and print ! ....Right .

'til next..

Hi Frank

I think this will make a nice card. It has all the elements: seasonal weather; a homely atmosphere; and, of course, the Christmas tree.

All the best,
Keith

Frank--thanks for the photo tips (see comments on Sugar Shack). I guess I need better "photoshop" software. I did discover, however, that using the highest quality setting--some 12 mp--did not help at all. It showed every tiny speck, every little bit of glare, etc.Too much! I took it down to 3mp and got much beter results. I'll try a couple of the things you suggest and see how it goes.
Happy holidays. Jack
