Harvard Trainer - Free As A Bird   8" x 10"   O/P

The story goes that the Harvard Trainer was flying out of Trenton, on a training run over the east end of Lake Ontario. Trouble developed and the pilot ditched the plane into the lake. Years later, the plane  was recovered  and restored to its' original condition. The plane was eventually mounted on a pillar and left to turn at the mercy of the wind for all to see.
This painting was painted on a Masonite panel that had been pre-gessoed and a coat of Burnt Sienna was later applied to the surface.
My limited palette of Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin, Cad. Yellow Med.and White was used for this painting.
I used Odourless Mineral Spirits for thinning the paint when needed.

It was a quick, fun painting to do and was completely out of my comfort zone as far as subject matter goes..

'til next...
