From the painting site..as you will see, I left the 'stones' out!

Old Cemetery Drive Shed 10" x 12" O/P

What is this !
Today, I thought that I would try something that has been on my mind lately. We are all acquainted with squinting our eyes and looking through our lashes while we paint, I am sure.
I wondered what would be the result if one were to close the eyelids further, perhaps to try and eliminate the middle tones altogether. It is difficult to be consistent with the 'squinting thing', therefore, middle tones did creep in. I also found that obtaining a 'high key' in the lighter colours was difficult for me, in this case. The light did not seem to effect the darker values as much as it did the lighter.
It did seem that with this method , the darkest values did melt into the more middle tones, causing more lost edges while the lightest value, seemed more profound (a sharper contrasts).
I feel that this was a worthwhile exercise and warranted further study and practise. Practise, being the operative word here...
Your thoughts on this would be welcomed..

'til next..

I like what happened here, especially in the sky and tree branches. Gonna try it myself.

Have you ever tried painting with sunglasses on?
Your work is very fresh and colorful, and right and true.

Cagg.. Thank you very much for your compliment. I am happy that you checked the blog out.

'Have you ever tried painting with sunglasses on?'

Yes ! But, I realized it before I had finished the painting. Mistake no. 2..I should have left them on to finish the painting.
The painting died before my eyes when taken inside. The whole thing lacked definition or the crisp high lites I prefer. They just do not replace "spinting"..

: )
