Winter Pines 6"x 8" O/P
It has been a long time since I have painted a piece this small.

The panel is a Masonite board that has been prepared with two coats of acrylic gesso. The first coat was the gesso as it came from the jar and the second coat was gesso with a modelling paste mixture. This mixture gave the painting surface a texture that mimicked the brush that applied it. The mixture can be further refined with continued brushing.
This panel was then blown dry and a coat of "watery" (odourless mineral spirits) oil paint applied. ( a sort of orange in this case) I then used the blow dryer to evaporate the OMS from the surface. The remaining thin layer of oil paint on the surface (optional) was then rubbed with paper towel to even out the colour.

I like the visual effect of the texture when the paint is applied.

I was now set to go.
'til next
