Autumn Rapids On The Madawaska 8" x 10" O/P

Our early winter snows that I thought were here to stay, have melted with the warm weather and rain in the last couple of days. This has given me the opportunity to try my latest palette (s) on sketches and photo references of a past painting.

I like what is happening in the foreground of this piece. The values of the palette (colours) to my eye seem closer to each other so that the transition between colours is smoother to the eye of the viewer.

Also, the foreground because of these newer colours, seem to carry more 'weight' than the background colours . This effect may also be helped by more of the lighter base colour of the panel showing between the background colours.
Below is the enlargement showing the colours and application of the paint in this trial.

Overall, I am happy for the opportunity and the results of the palette.
'til next..

Frank,
What a surprise to see your note. I read your blog almost every day, but don't comment much these days. I guess you can call me a lurker!

I love your autumn paintings this year. I wish I could do trees as well as you do. Have a safe and happy holiday season.

Hello Frank. The colours seem to work well together and I like the way you get so much out of them.

The weather is unusually mild here as well, but I thought you might have had something more seasonal.

Hope you have a Happy Christmas.

Keith..Thanks for the seasonal comment..appreciate it. It wasn't until the last few days that we got cold temps and snow up to our ...waistes. Have been busy being Santa in my other ordinary life. :-) So, little time to paint the seasonal painting.

A very Merry Christmas to you and yours as well, Keith.

Take Care..
