"The Great Blue Heron" 11" x 14" O/CBecause it is summer, I thought that I would try painting another garden scene. This particular scene is from the garden of the former home of Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald. (1867) The flowers in this particular garden are of the same period that Sir John would have seen when he and his family lived there.

This is a photo of the circular garden that sits in the middle of the back yard. An iron bird bath may be seen in the garden on the left side of the photo . A sculpture of a Great Blue Heron sits on top of the bird bath. It was for the heron that I named the painting, "The great Blue Heron" .
On the left is a photo of the panting in progress. At this particular stage, if I remember correctly, the painting would have been at the three quarter finished stage. The support for the panting is my usual Masonite panel with the three coats of gesso and a final coat of Burnt Sienna and Yellow Medium mixture (oil).
My palette for this painting was my usual limited palette plus a Burnt Sienna, Veridian, and Cobalt Blue.
