"Sowing The Garden" 10"x 12" O/P

Another beautiful spring day to be painting. I have not been to the Opinicon Road area yet this spring, although I had painted there many times this past winter. It was very refreshing to see the area coming alive with the sights and sounds of spring. Seeing the apple blossoms and smelling the aroma of Lilacs in the spring air was soul lifting.

For the most part, the acidic greens of spring and their many values have taken over the palette. Most of these greens were developed by mixing Cadmium Yellow Med. or Lemon Yellow added to Cerulean Blue or Ultramarine Blue and Titanium White. Alizarin was used sparingly to grey some mixtures as well . The only tube ready green that I had on my palette was Sap Green and it also found its' way into some of the mixtures.
Additional colours used were, Yellow Ochre , Napels Yellow Light and Cadmium Red Medium.

Spring painting reminds me of painting in the fall of the year. So many paintings to do and such a short season.

'til next..
