This small painting of a village close to my home was painted using a palette that consisted of, Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Cerulean Blue, Alizarin, Cadmium Yellow Light and Titanium White and as the painting progressed I added Sap Green. The Sap Green, I added to the Ultramarine and Alizarin for added 'punch' in the dark areas of the painting.
The panel surface was textured prior to adding a reddish base colour. A number 8 flat brush was used mostly for this painting. As I got closer to the finished painting, I used smaller brushes to help bring the piece together and to do some work on the details and 'flourishes'.
'til next..

Frank....I have admired your work on Wetcanvas and Ghosted your blog on more than one occasion. I got tagged in a tagging storm and was supposed to tag 7 artists that had blogs and work I admired. Tag you are it. Details are on my blog. Feel free to accept or decline.
Frank.. very nice piece this one! I love the colour palette. There is something very expansive about the sky in this that really says it for me about your part of Ontario.
cheers, Mike
Mike, thanks a lot !
I think that I exagerated the colour in this particular piece. It (sky) could be a little on the "rich" side but I feel it is effective with the rest of the painting.
Thanks for taking the time to check out the blog and commenting.
..take care.
