As you can see, even though I have not been painting as much this past autumn, I have been busy. During my "down time" I built a small four season studio in my backyard. The trim will have to wait until spring.
I am really looking forward to working in this space.
...And why does a plein air painter (read "me") need a studio ?
The majority of my paintings are paintings that have been painted on location, and if lucky, were completed there. This is great, but, what about the paintings that did not get finished or needed "fixing", a colour change here, a stroke there or a value change ?

Until now, this meant setting up the paints again upon my return from the field, doing my "touch-ups" then having to tear the set-up down . (family allergy concerns) When one paints most days, this can become a detriment. For no other reason, I destroyed two hundred and fifty canvases or panels (collected over time) with "almost finished paintings" this past summer.

Now, I can set- up, do my "corrections" or whatever and leave the painting and set-up until the next day and know that it will be ready to go when needed.

My family likes to refer to the studio as, "The Dog House". I prefer, "Tamarack".

'til next.

Thanks Michael

I think that it will serve the purpose for which it was built. I have waited awhile for this.. Hope you are right about the paintings. ;-)

Take care.
