So, what does a Plein Aire Artist do to keep painting if the weather is not co-operating? There are many options, two of them, being able to stay inside and work in the comfort of the studio. The first, being able to paint from smaller paintings and reference material that were painted on earlier painting excersions. These are usually larger than the original plein aires and become studio paintings. A second option would be to "paint from life". This would entail putting objects into a pleasing arrangement or composition, arranging the lighting and painting a "still life" in the studio. Also qualifying would be" life"(nude) or "costume painting" ( drapped) and "portrait painting". This particular painting falls into the "still life" catagory. It is a oil on a canvas panel. This painting is 10x8 inches.

Thanks for looking...
